TDS (Tax Deduction at Source)

Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is the tax deducted at the time the income is received by or credited to the “person” so that collection of tax is proponed and the responsibility for paying tax is diversified.. TDS is deducted on various types of income such as fees for professional and technical services, payment to contractors and sub-contractors, salary, interest on fixed deposits, winnings from lotteries and horse races, insurance commission, commission or brokerage, rent, etc.

Tax Deduction and Collection Number (TAN) is mandatory 10 digit alpha number required to be obtained by all persons who are responsible for Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) or Tax Collection at Source (TCS) on behalf of the Government. The person deducting the tax at source is required to deposit the tax deducted to the credit of Central Government. Individuals who are salaried are not required to obtain TAN or deduct tax at source. However, a proprietorship business and other entities (i.e., Private Limited Company, LLP, etc.,) must deduct tax at source while making certain payment like salary, payments to contractor or sub-contractors, etc. We can help obtain TAN Registration.

TDS has to be deposited to the credit of the Central Government and TDS Returns should be filed within due dates prescribed by the Income Tax Act, 1961. TDS Certificates have to be issued by the deductor giving details of tax deducted so that the same is adjusted against income tax payable for the year by the deductee.
